We have seen- when he was at Fitz. He looked a whole lot better than WK3 in the state championship game and then he went off to a P5 S&C program. LA was awesome, but I believe JD is a different type of breed.

LA wasnt busting 99 yarders- JD can.

He may well be better, but we don’t know that yet. I was mainly referring to the two backs having somewhat similar skill sets. Ramsby didn’t have the vertical explosiveness that would have made him an NFL back, but his strength, balance, and ability to move laterally were excellent. He made life very difficult for SBC tacklers, particularly when we were competent on offense in 2014 and 2015.

King’s a little bigger, and he has a good jump cut. His film shows more vertical explosiveness than L.A. had, and let’s hope he still has that. That said, there are a lot of runs on his HS film where he wasn’t the fastest guy on the field. There are a lot of runs on his OkSt film where he doesn’t show a feel for finding the cut-back lane. Still, he was a true freshman when he got most of his carries there.

He will definitely knock back tacklers and get extra yards. He can catch and block. He will almost certainly break some big runs.

At a minimum, Ramsby had a tendency to not just put his foot down and get through a hole the way Breida would. Especially early in 2014 as Ramsby was getting more comfortable with being a RB. That's why they complemented each other because they brought different things to the table.

King has that same kind of commitment and burst at the line. They (King/Ramsby) may have a similar top end speed, but King is definitely a bigger body and as such doesn't appear to go down on initial contact all that much. Here's hoping we see a lot of those 1-2 yard gains from last year due to contact at the line turn into 3-4 yard gains. Doesn't take much to improve your position for 3rd down and keep us moving downfield. That's not even counting the potential of breaking tackles and getting bigger gains.

If he can pick up the blocking nuances and be interchangeable in our multiback sets to hide him as the cruiser, then we could do a lot of creative things with our personnel.

Yeah, he’s a welcome addition. Most of our other backs are “specialists,” while King brings several different things to the table. He actually looked great playing some wing at Fitzgerald, though I doubt we’ll get to see him at slot.

We probably WILL see him making a difference on those wheel routes, like Wesley Fields did.

At the minimum, he will do what L.A. did and turn those 1-2 yards gains into 3-4 yard gains. That’s huge in this offense.

Anything beyond what Ramsby did (1500 yards and 25 TDs in 2014-15) would be gravy. I mean, that’s a lot of TDs in a two-year stretch.

That and from the film I've seen, his blocking is going to be pretty dang good. He appears to have a knack for pancaking defenders and THAT could really spring some speed backs for some BIG yardage gains.

Definitely stronger with JD in the game, even if he isn't carrying the ball.

Getting here early is a BIG plus

when we sat in with the RBs you could tell that he has studied the offense and was
working hard to get up to speed

also Logan Wright showed that he was working on the playbook

others may have been too, but I wasn't around long enough to see it
Once poked Chad Lunsford in the eye.

Wait a minute. Does that mean god likes us but does not like the rest of the SBC?
