    Re: Option Offense

I agree. The SBC is a fast league. I wonder how it compares to the other G5 conferences, like the MWC or CUSA?

I agree 100%. Despite what happened in Boone, we had a much better meaningless season than App did.

    Re: Option Offense

Yeah, we had a clear speed advantage back then, and the current SBC is pretty fast across the board—probably comparable to the best FCS teams. What surprises me, however, is the length I see on SBC...

No, but we also have to recruit JUST the minimum requirement on the freshman index or whatever they call it in this case.

The burden of proof is on the dude who makes the claim. Who made it in this case?

Honest question, since I haven't read the thread.

He was a very good coach for us. I don't know what happened when he took the DC job at Bethune-Cookman, but he'd clearly had his fill of the coaching profession shortly thereafter.

I don’t know much about Rusty other than that he did a good job as DC for us. I agree that the situation was doomed from the start, though.

I think Baker made the right decision in hiring Sewak,...

It may have started with PJ (publicly) threatening Rusty's job after 1998. I'm sure Baker choosing Sewak over Rusty as PJ's successor had something to do with it.

Because most FBS programs recruit above a baseline for size/length. Speed is secondary to that, though they obviously want it (and get it) at certain positions (WR, DB).

ULM doesn’t play ball-hogging offenses like ours every week, though. Running 74 plays against us is more of an accomplishment than running 74 plays against most teams.
